Girls und Panzer has a simple story and concept. School from around the world compete in a sport named Sensha-do, or “way of the tank.” In this whole world, “tankery,” as it is colloquially known, is seen as a dignified martial art that assists girls hone their grace and femininity.
Director Mizushima made in emphatic that he would accept no panty shot in his series. The fact is, outside several bath scenes, which aside for some slight cleavage, are rather tame in any event, there is small to no overtly unpleasant fan service in this anime at all, however cynically exploitative one may conceive the concept of female adolescents juxtaposed to military appliance. For all purpose and intentions, Girls und Panzer can be an anime about girls and panzers, an anime that mixes slice of life and tank combat, and it works.
Girls und Panzer can be lacking in several parts, but I discovered the overall to be quite humors, awesome, nice and sweet. Girls und Panzer is quite funny from time to time too.

Panzerfahren! This is tradition, this is culture, studied by girls from around the world to hone their character. They also study this martial art to hone their polite grace and their dignified feminity. Studying Panzerfahren means studying what it means to be a woman. Hot and hard like steel. Lovable like the clatter of iron tracks, and of absolutely deadly passion like the main cannon. If you learn to know the Panzer, you will be a good wife, a good mother, and successful in business. When your body and spirit are sound and indomitable, the goodwill of countless men is sure to be yours. Let us study the Panzer and grow into beautiful, healthy women!
The story sets in a universe where historical World War II era tanks are maintained for sport-style warfare competitions and huge carrier ships called Academy Ships support mobile sea communities. Of the many activities high school girls can participate in, one of the most well-known is “sensha-dou”, or the “way of the tank”, the art of operating tanks, which is deemed a traditional martial art.
Nishizumi Miho, a girl from prestigious family of sensha-dou practitioners who grew to be traumatized by a past incident, transfers to Ooarai Girls High School to get away from sensha-dou, since she assumed the school was no longer practicing the sport. However, soon after Miho starts out her new school life and makes a few new friends, the student council announces the revival of sensha-dou at Ooarai and coerces Miho, the only student with past experience, to participate. Although reluctant to join at first, having practically been forced, Miho soon warms up to sensha-dou again and comes to love it, after which the school prepares to enter a national sensha-dou championship, facing off against many other schools.
Other then the entire high school girl club about tanks element, the story isn’t really original, but I never truly based the quality of and anime on how original its is, just the way well executed it is and the story for Girls und Panzer is really well executed. You will find a few conflicts and problems in the story that developed through the show that are paced well. I feel the ending really satisfying. The scenes are well written and the entire the show had a great pace that was pleasant, but not too slow either. The conversation and dialogue can be excellent, although both can get truly cheesy from time to time. If you are searching for a story that is fun, comes with several action, and about friendship with a small drama tossed in, then this anime might be work for you.
I like this artwork, it is simple, clean, smooth, bright, and colorful. It matches the light-hearted feel of the show. The tanks look wonderful, but I’m not a tank expert so I don’t know how accurate the tank designs are. What truly astounded me about the art style is the backgrounds. It has great depth, detail look good, and are one of the best background I’ve ever seen in anime. I never like it when an anime comes low-cost on the background, so I am enthuse that the Girls und Panzer team put in the effort.
The characters are extremely pleasant and work properly within the context of the anime. You can find a lot of characters, but every single one whether it be someone on the Panzer squad or another additional and supporting character, will bring a smile to your face at some time. These aren’t deep and heavy characters, but they do not need to be, they often have foolish, silly, and ridiculous personalities, but that is the point.
The soundtrack is strong all in all, with some very nice military marches and themes that in some way added to the scenes and combat. The seiyuu is strong, by ensuring to keep everything straight so that the humor is presented properly. The animation and soundtrack are in general superb and complement each other correctly. The soundtrack marches with militaristic music that fit well with the action taking place on screen while the tanks are made using really detailed CG that appears to be superb in motion.
I am not stating that Girls und Panzer is the best anime out there, but it executes what it is trying to do perfectly. This anime is basically the height of entertainment, and through the weeks that I watched it, I became to love the anime ever more. You may definitely doubtful that Girls und Panzer is the dazzling show, but I recommend you go and check it out as it truly is enjoyable and entertaining show at its best.
