In Tokyo, there is regulation in place to restrict children’s access to publications that the government sees harmful. The Youth Healthy Development Ordinance forbids the sale of publications filled with material that is “motivates cruelty, sexually stimulating, and/or persuade suicide or criminal behavior” to consumers younger than 18.
Tokyo’s Youth Healthy Development Council met on May 14 to evaluate the depictions of incest in TV anime series Yosuga no Sora.
However, the council figured the anime doesn’t violate the ordinance’s new criteria. The Youth Affairs section chief stated that the series doesn’t show incest as socially tolerable and the story’s depictions aren’t excessive.
