Edward Elric, a young, intelligent alchemist, has lost a lot in his twelve-year life: when he and his brother Alphonse make an effort to resurrect their dead mother through the forbidden action of human transmutation, Edward loses his brother along with two of his limbs. Along with his great alchemy abilities, Edward binds Alphonse’s soul to a good sized suit of armor.
A year later, Edward, now promoted to the fullmetal alchemist of the state, embarks on a journey together with his younger brother to search for the Philosopher’s Stone. The legendary mythical object is rumored to be capable of amplifying an alchemist’s skills by leaps and bounds, thus letting them override the essential law of alchemy: to achieve something, an alchemist need to sacrifice something of equal price. Edward intends to draw into the military’s resources to uncover the magical stone and restore his and Alphonse’s bodies to normal. However, the Elric brothers soon find out that there is more to the well-known stone than meets the eye, as they are brought about the epicenter of a far darker fight than they could have ever expected.
